Homemade, healthy, and delicious nuggets for your dog, made with sweet potato and lentils.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cooked sweet potato, mashed
  • 1/2 cup cooked brown lentils
  • 1/4 cup whole wheat flour (or oat flour for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the mashed sweet potato and cooked lentils. Mix well.
  3. Add the flour, nutritional yeast, and parsley to the sweet potato and lentil mixture. Stir until a dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour, one tablespoon at a time.
  4. Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Flatten them slightly into nugget shapes.
  5. Place the nuggets on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the nuggets are firm and lightly golden.
  7. Allow the nuggets to cool completely before serving them to your dog. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Notes

  • You can substitute brown rice flour or chickpea flour for whole wheat flour if your dog has sensitivities.
  • Ensure all ingredients are dog-safe and in appropriate amounts for your dog’s size and dietary needs.
  • Always introduce new foods gradually to your dog’s diet.
