Simple homemade treats for your dog made with pumpkin and apple.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (plain, not pie filling)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup water (or as needed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the pumpkin puree and applesauce. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add the whole wheat flour to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add water a tablespoon at a time until it comes together.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  5. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters or a knife.
  6. Place the bites on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bites are firm and lightly golden.
  8. Let the bites cool completely before serving to your dog.

Notes

  • Store cooled treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • You can substitute whole wheat flour with oat flour or almond flour for a gluten-free option.
