Ingredients
Scale
1 cup pumpkin puree (plain, not pie filling)
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 cup water (or as needed)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, combine the pumpkin puree and applesauce. Mix well.
Gradually add the whole wheat flour to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add water a tablespoon at a time until it comes together.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.
Cut out shapes using cookie cutters or a knife.
Place the bites on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bites are firm and lightly golden.
Let the bites cool completely before serving to your dog.
Notes
Store cooled treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
You can substitute whole wheat flour with oat flour or almond flour for a gluten-free option.
