A simple cake recipe for your dog, made with peanut butter and bacon.

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 egg
  • 2 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a small cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour and baking soda.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the peanut butter, vegetable oil, water, and egg until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Stir in the crumbled bacon.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Ensure your peanut butter does not contain xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.
  • You can also bake this in muffin tins for individual servings.
  • Frost with plain yogurt or cream cheese if desired, but ensure it’s dog-safe.
