A simple homemade dog food recipe made in a crockpot with chicken and pumpkin.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (plain, not pie filling)
  • 1/2 cup cooked brown rice
  • 1/2 cup cooked peas
  • 1/4 cup chopped carrots
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Place chicken breast in the crockpot.
  2. Add pumpkin puree, brown rice, peas, and carrots.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with parsley.
  4. Cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until chicken is cooked through.
  5. Remove chicken and shred it.
  6. Return shredded chicken to the crockpot and stir to combine.
  7. Let cool completely before serving to your dog.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • You can substitute sweet potato for pumpkin if your dog prefers.
  • Ensure all ingredients are plain and free of added spices or seasonings.
