Homemade chew sticks made with beef and vegetables for your dog.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup cooked sweet potato, mashed
  • 1/4 cup cooked carrot, mashed
  • 1/4 cup cooked peas, mashed
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup whole wheat flour (or gluten-free alternative)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300ยฐF (150ยฐC).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, mashed sweet potato, mashed carrot, mashed peas, and egg. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness.
  5. Cut the dough into strips, about 1/2 inch wide and 6 inches long.
  6. Place the strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until firm and dry.
  8. Turn off the oven and let the chew sticks cool completely inside the oven with the door slightly ajar. This helps them dry out thoroughly.
  9. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Notes

  • Ensure all vegetables are cooked and mashed before adding to the dough.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for beef.
  • Adjust baking time based on your oven and desired chewiness.
